Your team has decided to use Nexus to share project data! You've had your Nexus onboarding training and learned how to upload/download files, tag your colleagues, check file versions, and sync all your project files to get the latest updated. Now your project lead has finished uploading all the primary project files and form set (.mmsetx) files for the team to sync with. Your Nexus trainer talked about making a new clean Origin project to sync to Nexus and hold all those files, but there were some details you can't quite recall. If this describes you, you're in the right place! Making a clean project to sync with Nexus is simple, but there are a couple things to keep in mind.
First, go into the Origin Project menu and make a New project:
Next, open the Windows Explorer for the new project and delete all the automatically generated .TRIDB files. This must be done to prevent any conflicts with identically named .TRIDB files you may need to download from Nexus.
For example, this is what happens when you download .TRIDB files from Nexus when you already have files with identical names in your Origin project:
You can see how it downloads the files from Nexus, but saves them as copies with a "(1)" following their names. This is because the system detects existing local files in your project with identical names. This is why it's important to empty your new Origin project of default generated .TRIDB files so you can maintain clear naming conventions.
